CTPP extended the entry into force of the GRO (NR 1) to January 2022
Meeting virtually from June 28th to 30th, the Permanent Joint Tripartite Commission (CTPP) dealt with several agendas, making important decisions regarding the Regulatory Standards dealing with Health and Safety at Work. Among the various deliberated items, the postponement of the entry into force of NRs 1 (GRO), 7 (PCMSO), 9 (Evaluation and Control of Occupational Exposures to Physical, Chemical and Biological Agents), 18 (Construction Industry) and part of 37 (Petroleum Platforms) toJanuary 2022.
Expectantly awaited by preventionists, the extension of the GRO (Occupational Risk Management) to January 3, 2022 was confirmed at the meeting. Together with NR 1, the CTPP set the same date for NRs 7 (PCMSO), 9 ( Assessment and Control of Occupational Exposures to Physical, Chemical and Biological Agents), 18 (Construction Industry) and part of 37 (Oil Platforms), which would come into effect on August 2nd.
Two aspects were considered in the postponement decision. One of them was the pandemic scenario, which led many companies to prioritize their efforts in combating Covid-19, leaving little time to be dedicated to the transition to the PGR (Risk Management Program) provided for in the GRO of NR 1. And the another, the issue of ensuring that the entire set that is related to the GRO enters into force on the same date. “As NR 17 has not yet been published, this extension will be important to ensure that all general rules (NRs 1, 7, 9 and 17) come into force together. Also NR 18, which brings the news of the PGR for the construction industry and NR 37 itself and all those annexes, ensuring this integration”, evaluates the labor inspector.
An ordinance making this postponement official to January 3, 2022 must be published in the DOU by August 2.
